WHAT CAN LEGALLY BE COPIED?
Personal recordings, family heirlooms, and any non-copyrighted material is okay. So is anything to which you own the copyright. Examples might include:
*A cassette recording of your son's piano recital from 1974
*Your uncle's 'V-mail' discs from World War II
*A demo recording you made of a song you wrote
*An acetate home recording of your mother singing opera
Other types of recordings may be allowed, but with some restrictions:
In the U.S., if you are the owner of a commercially released recording that is not in the public domain, you are allowed by law to make a copy for your own personal use. In this case, you are simply asking me to make that copy for you. It is not to be sold or distributed, or given to a second party. Copyright laws may vary depending on where you live.
